Our Supply Chain

The whole length of our supply chain is important to us. There is no point in raising our sheep and cattle to a high welfare and environmental standard, if the finishing process doesn’t follow the same belief.

Our abattoir

We currently take the stock to Broomhalls abattoir in Eastington. They are a small, family owned and managed abattoir, with more than four generations of experience in the butchery trade. They take animal welfare extremely seriously. The abattoir is Demeter Organic approved which ensures that our ethical standards are upheld throughout delivery, slaughter and storage; meeting Demeter requirements that exceed the government mandated regulations. Every time we have taken stock to Broomhalls the livestock have been treated with the utmost consideration and patience – something which is of paramount important to us.

Our butcher

Jesse Smith is a family owned, award-winning butcher with shops in Cirencester, Tetbury, Northleach and Burford. They believe that value, respect and natural farming produces the best flavour and they are currently one of only a handful of butchers in Britain to have a salt wall installed for dry aging their beef. We work very closely with the team at Jesse Smith to ensure that our beef and lamb is butchered into the right cuts, and packaged in the best way for our customers.

Our packaging

Environmentally considerate packaging is part of our commitment to maintain sustainability from the field to your front door. Our beef and lamb burgers are packed on compostable trays and our meat boxes are shipped in super sustainable packaging with the help of Wool Cool. The cardboard courier boxes have a fleece liner, which is 100% felted sheep’s wool which is washed in a natural process, scoured, then sealed within recyclable industry grade micro-perforated polyethylene wrap. The wool insulation is totally compostable and biodegradable, releasing valuable nitrates back into the soil
